Facilities and Procedures :

  • The Department is equipped with state of art facilities for optimal patient care,which include:
  • Minimal Access Surgery equipments-2 sets
  • Entire set of Paediatric Endo urology equipments such as Neonatal and Paediatric Cystoscopes, Resectoscopes, Flexible and Rigid uretero-renoscopes and their accessories
  • Paediatric Gastrointestinal tract endoscopes including Gastroscope, Colonoscope and ERCP scope with their accessories
  • Holmium laser
  • Harmonic Scalpel and Vessel Sealing equipments
  • Video Urodynamic system with Gastrointestinal Manometry
  • C-ARM

The BMCRI Superspeciality hospital has 24 Pediatric Surgery ward beds, 6 bedded fully equipped High Dependency Unit  and a dedicated Neonatal Surgical ICU with 6 open warmers , 5 ventilators, multipara monitors and phototherapy units.

The services offered by the Department encompasses the entire gamut of systems and include:

  • Pediatric general and GI surgery – Both congenital and acquired diseases including neonatal GI obstructions, Hirschsprung’s disease, Anorectal anomalies, etc.
  • Pediatric urology and urology clinic- which covers the entire spectrum of Paediatric urology like Obstructive Hydronephrosis, Vesico-ureteric reflux, Possterior urethral valves, Neurogenic bladders, etc. The Department is self reliant and  do all the necessary radiological and urodynamic evaluations in the OPD
  • Pediatric hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery- including biliary atresia, choledochal cysts, liver masses, etc. It has one of the largest cohort of pancreatic diseases patients.
  • Pediatric Neurosurgery and spina bifida clinic- The Department is almost the sole Government Institution in the state of Karnataka handling and with a large load of Spina bifida patients, especially the occult spinal dysraphisms with tethered cord.
  • Paediatric Airway and Thoracic Surgery- including neonatal anomalies like Esophageal atresia, Congenital lung lesions, acquired empyema, etc.

     All surgeries are aided by a well equipped Minimal Access support improving patient recovery and turn around time. The Department also manages padiatric cancer patients, both surgically and managing the Chemotherapy of Soild tumour patients.
